The Mysterious Case of the Extra Mailbox
One morning, I stepped outside, sipping my coffee, only to do a double-take at the end of my driveway. Sitting next to my own mailbox was… another mailbox. Identical in every way, right down to the number on it, except this one was painted in a bright, shiny red, unlike my usual plain black.
I figured it was some kind of prank or a mistake, so I shrugged it off, assuming whoever put it there would come back to move it. But the next day, I noticed something strange. The red mailbox had letters inside. Curious, I pulled them out, only to find they weren’t my usual mail. The envelopes were labeled with odd phrases like “For the Believer” and “Answers Await.”
Puzzled, I asked my neighbors, but no one admitted to knowing anything about it. Day after day, new letters appeared, each with strange, cryptic messages. Finally, one note left me completely speechless: “Check the attic.”
Unable to ignore it any longer, I went up to my attic that night, flashlight in hand. As I poked around, I spotted an old, dusty chest I hadn’t noticed before. Inside were family relics, but at the bottom, wrapped in cloth, was a faded journal. The entries were haunting, mentioning things like “hidden messages” and “the red mailbox.”
It turned out the journal belonged to my grandfather, who had also once received letters from a mysterious red mailbox that seemed to appear and disappear. My heart pounded as I realized this was more than just a prank—it was some kind of family mystery. The next morning, the red mailbox was gone, but I never forgot the messages it left behind… and still wonder who—or what—was behind it all.
